Understanding Therapy for Vicarious Trauma

My mission is to provide compassionate support for individuals facing vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue, so that they can continue to do what they love without sacrificing their overall wellbeing.

There is an unrecognized toll and cost to make the world a better place. When overlooked and prolonged, we may feel burn out: fatigue, cynicism, numbness, digestion problems, difficulty breathing, increased emotional sensitivity, and distrust of others to name a few. Such symptoms affect us and those around us, impacting how well we take care of ourselves and those we love.

Meet Dr. Ramírez

A compassionate therapist dedicated to helping you overcome vicarious trauma with cultural sensitivity and personalized strategies.

Dr. Ramírez is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in California and Nevada. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in helping clients regain their lives from many types of trauma, including vicarious trauma and burn out. She helps the helpers in society who are often independent, problem-solvers, quick learners, and self-sufficient. Unfortunately, due to these traits, they can be easily overlooked or assumed to be "okay." Yet, the truth is that even helpers need care and support.

Dr. Ramírez is passionate about treating the helpers in our society because they are usually deeply caring individuals who learned to take care of others or solve problems to earn their worth. In a world that never ceases to have problems, such an endeavor will inevitably lead to burnout and a feeling of not being "enough." While working together, clients learn to recognize their physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational needs, regulate their nervous system, effective communication skills, and to reconnect with their bodies and sense of self.

Frequently asked questions

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. However, there are special circumstances that, for your safety or the safety of others, confidentiality can be broken. If you have any concerns about confidentiality, bring it up in the free consultation so that Dr. Ramírez can answer your questions.

How does therapy work?

The process of therapy is dynamic and will vary depending on the person seeking therapy, the reason for therapy, and their readiness to be in therapy. Typically, therapy is a place where a person can talk safely about their thoughts, feelings, needs, wants, and behaviors. It is also a place where you can be challenged in order to address your problems and meet your therapy goals.

What are your rates?

My rate is $225 per 50-minute session. This is an investment in your long-term well-being, relationships, and family legacy. I can provide superbills for Out-of-Network coverage. Treatment is usually once per week, however, it can be adjusted based on client's needs.

What kind of therapy do you offer?

I provide an integrated form of therapy consisting of: the body, mind, soul, biology, and culture. Therefore, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help with understanding thoughts, feelings, behaviors, bodily sensations, and context along with developmental psychology, relational psychoanalytic therapies, and a trauma-informed lens.
